Joe Tamel was born in Chicago, Illinois and took his first darkroom class in fourth grade. He has been shooting ever since. Relocating to Los Angeles in 1991, he began a career in television. After a few years in the lighting department, Joe found that he felt most comfortable behind the lens. While moving through the ranks of the camera department to Director of Photography, he has had the privilege of working with some of the biggest names in television. While enjoying his career in TV, Joe's fascination with the still image was the motivation for him to further pursue that medium. Since then, Joe has shot for Island/Def Jam Records, Cazcanes Tequila, Chandler-Chico Agency, Allergen/Botox, The Royal House Hotel-Las Vegas, The Psychic Twins, Production Gear Rentals, Abraham McDonald, Dutton/San Felipe Jewels, Rhett Frazier, Inc., Soundelicious Music and many others.
Joe lives in New Preston, Connecticut with his wife Stacey and their dog Chilaquil.
